Fact

Fact that much-maligned commodity.
Exchange the social lubricant,
And means by which it moves,
And Truth, the thing we build with it.
In all material things,
Our World is built on more than Just Material Things,
And constants, questions of fact,
Like the Sun that rises in the West,
And sets in the East
Are, in fact, beyond contestation.
Unless of course, we hold to the doctrine of Alternatives,
Magic mystery and mayhem,
And regard the words we speak as meaning
Just what we wish them to,
Just because we can,
And have the Power to will them so.
Tradition defines and informs dissent,
And from dissent derives consensus,
And from consensus, collective will.
For we are the many, not the few,
And fact, community with it, will founder
If determined by just the few.
